Hungary intends to block the EU’s plans to increase military aid to Ukraine and impose a ban on energy supplies from Russia.

This was stated by the country’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on his Facebook page ahead of the EU Council meeting in Luxembourg, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In his address on the social network, the Hungarian foreign minister emphasized the complexity of the upcoming negotiations:

“It will be a difficult day: the EU Foreign Affairs Council and the Energy Council will meet simultaneously in Luxembourg. We have to defend Hungary’s interests in both places: in the EU Foreign Affairs Council they want to further inflame the military atmosphere and in the Energy Council they want to undermine the security of our energy supply,” Szijjártó wrote.

At the meetings in Luxembourg, EU ministers plan to discuss new military supplies to Ukraine, additional sanctions against Russia, as well as the European Commission’s proposed plan to completely abandon Russian oil and gas from 2028.
