Six regions were partially left without power due to shelling by the Russian Federation
19 June 11:15
On Friday, June 19, some consumers in six regions of Ukraine were temporarily left without power due to hostilities and Russian shelling of energy facilities. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Power outages were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.
Power utility workers are working around the clock to restore the damaged power grids. At the same time, no nationwide power rationing is expected on June 19.
Which regions are without power
According to the Ministry of Energy, due to hostilities and attacks on energy infrastructure, some consumers in six regions remain without power.
These include:
- Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast;
- Mykolaiv Oblast;
- Sumy Oblast;
- Kharkiv Oblast;
- Kherson Oblast.
The extent of power outages in communities may vary depending on the nature of the damage and the security situation.
Why the power outages occurred
The power outages were caused by hostilities and Russian shelling of energy facilities and grids.
In regions near the front lines, energy infrastructure is regularly damaged by drone attacks, missile strikes, and artillery fire.
The following may be damaged:
- power lines;
- transformer substations;
- distribution equipment;
- local power grids;
- power generation facilities and critical infrastructure.
As a result, certain towns or districts may experience temporary power outages.

Energy workers are on the job around the clock
The Ministry of Energy reported that repair crews are working around the clock.
Specialists are working to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible. Restoration work is ongoing around the clock wherever the security situation allows.
In regions located near the front lines or the border with Russia, repairs may be complicated by repeated shelling, mine hazards, and air raid alerts.
As a result, the timeframes for restoring power may vary across different communities.
Will there be power outage schedules on June 19?
The Ministry of Energy noted that no electricity consumption restrictions are expected on June 19.
This means that there are no plans to implement nationwide or hourly power outage schedules due to a power shortage.
At the same time, localized emergency outages may continue in areas where the power grid has been damaged by shelling or combat operations.
Therefore, the absence of general schedules does not mean that power is guaranteed in all regions.
Where to check for power updates
Ukrainians are advised to follow announcements from their distribution system operators—local regional power companies.
They are the ones who publish up-to-date information on:
- emergency power outages;
- damage to power grids;
- restoration times;
- repair work;
- possible changes in power supply;
- local schedules, if necessary.
Official announcements are usually posted on websites, social media, and regional power companies’ chatbots.
Ukrainians have been urged to conserve electricity
The Ministry of Energy has urged consumers to use electricity sparingly during peak demand hours.
Peak consumption is usually recorded:
- in the morning, when people turn on their household appliances en masse;
- in the evening, when the use of lighting, air conditioners, and other appliances increases.
Reducing the load helps the power grid operate more stably and lowers the risk of outages.
