Ukraine receives first tranche from IMF: how the funds will be spent

Ukraine has received the first tranche of financial aid from the IMF in the amount of $1.5 billion. The money will be spent on priority budget expenditures.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a Telegram post by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“Today, Ukraine received the first tranche from the IMF under a new four-year program within the Extended Fund Facility. $1.5 billion has been credited and will be used to finance priority budget expenditures and support macrofinancial stability,” Svyrydenko said.
According to her, the total amount of the program is $8.1 billion. In total, since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has attracted $14.9 billion in financial support from the IMF to the state budget.
“We continue to implement agreed reforms aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability, strengthening state institutions, and promoting European integration,” the head of government added.
New IMF program for Ukraine
As a reminder, the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund approved a new $8.1 billion financing program for Ukraine.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Ukraine said that the IMF had canceled the preconditions for the new loan program. According to her, these were requirements regarding VAT for sole proprietors, customs duties on parcels, tax on digital platforms, and military tax.
At the same time, as part of the new financing program, the IMF requires Ukraine to adopt a number of tax changes. The deadline for Kyiv is the end of March.
