Negotiations between Ukraine and the European Union on further trade terms should be completed no later than the end of July 2025. This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval during a conversation with journalists in Brussels, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

As a reminder, on June 5, the so-called “trade visa-free regime” between Ukraine and the EU – a regime of autonomous trade measures introduced in 2022 as temporary support for Ukraine during the war – expires. After that, the basis for bilateral trade will be the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).

“We have a clear understanding that the negotiations should be completed as soon as possible, but no later than the end of July. They are already underway, and my participation in the meeting of the EU Council on Agricultural Policy is part of this process. We have provided our partners with analytical data and presented the current situation in Ukraine,” Koval said.

According to him, the main goal of the talks is to ensure further trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of predictability on the part of the European Commission. “We expect the period of uncertainty to last as little as possible. Ukraine strives for a long-term understanding of the terms of trade based on openness, predictability and flexibility,” he added.

Koval emphasized that despite the ongoing war, liberalized trade terms remain extremely important for supporting Ukraine’s economy.
