16 degrees below zero in the Carpathians: tourists are advised to refrain from hiking in the mountains

A real winter is raging in the highlands of the Carpathians. As of the morning of January 5, it was 16 degrees below zero on Mount Pip Ivan. This was reported by the mountain rescuers of Prykarpattia on their Facebook page, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“As of 9:00 a.m. on 05.01.2025, it is cloudy on Mount Pip Ivan, the wind is 11 m/s west, the air temperature is -16°C,” the report says.
In such weather, it is extremely dangerous for ordinary tourists to be in the mountains. Therefore, rescuers recommend refraining from such outdoor activities.
It should be noted that on Sunday, January 5, and Monday, January 6, Ukrainians are expected to experience cold snaps and adverse weather events.
On Sunday, January 5, the weather in Ukraine will be cloudy with clearings. No precipitation, only in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia there will be light snow. There is ice on the roads in some places.
The wind is mostly southwest, 5-10 m/s.
The temperature during the day will be from 3° below zero to 2° above zero; in the Carpathians at night 9-14°, during the day 1-6° below zero.
In addition, forecasters warn of avalanche danger. The threat is relevant on January 5-6 in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk and in the highlands of the eastern part of Zakarpattia regions.
