A large fire broke out in the town of Livny in the Oryol region of Russia. Before that, the city was attacked by unknown drones.

The pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova reports that two terminals at the refinery are on fire.

The region’s governor, Andriy Klychkov, confirmed that unknown drones attacked the area at night, causing a fire at the fuel and energy facilities. He did not specify which ones.

Attacks on the Orel region

It is worth noting that there are several oil depots in Orel.

There is also a military base in Orel from which Russian troops launch Iranian Shahed drones into Ukraine. This base has 8 launch pads on the ground and a 2.8 km stretch of road where drones can be launched from vehicles.

The city is located about 150 km from the northeastern border of Ukraine.

Thus, explosions were heard in Russian Orly late in the evening of November 16. Local sources reported a possible attack on the Oryol thermal power plant. Prior to that, Telegram channels reported that many drones were flying in the direction of the Oryol region.

The last time an attack on Orel was reported was on November 13. Back then, explosions were heard there amid the announcement of a missile and drone threat. Local publics wrote about the work of air defense, which destroyed several targets, and some of the debris fell in a residential area.
