An earthquake struck Ukraine: what are the consequences

An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9 was recorded in the Chortkiv district of Ternopil region. The tremors occurred in the evening of December 11 and were felt by local residents.
According to "Komersant Ukrainian", this is evidenced by the data of the Main Center for Special Control of the State Tax Administration.
The earthquake was registered on Thursday, December 11, at 21.33. According to official data, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Melnytsia-Podilska community of Chortkiv district. The depth of the source was 3 kilometers and the magnitude was 2.9 on the Richter scale.
Such underground vibrations are classified as tangible – they can be noticed by people, but they usually do not pose a danger.
As noted, as of now, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
Experts add that in order to clarify the parameters of the aftershocks, citizens who may have felt something are asked to leave a message on the official website of the GCCC.
As a reminder, weak earthquakes occur periodically in Ukraine. Most often, seismologists record them in the mountainous regions of the country.
