Ukraine reintroduces power cut schedules: when and where restrictions will apply
5 March 02:49
On Thursday, March 5, most regions of Ukraine will again be subject to hourly power outages for the population. The restrictions will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until the end of the day. This was reported by NEC Ukrenergo, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
When will the power outage schedules be in effect?
According to energy officials, on March 5, most regions of Ukraine will introduce:
- hourly power outage schedules for residential consumers;
- power restrictions for industry.
The restrictions will take effect at 8 a.m. and may continue until the end of the day.
At the same time, energy companies emphasize that the situation in the power system remains dynamic. Therefore, the time and scope of the outages may change.
Consumers are advised to check the current schedules on the websites of local power grid operators (oblenergo).
Why are electricity restrictions being introduced?
Ukraine’s power grid continues to operate under increased load and the effects of Russian attacks on infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that Ukraine had gone through the most difficult winter since the start of the full-scale war, but Russia may be preparing new strikes on energy facilities in the spring.
When can we expect a return to normal schedules?
According to Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of the energy company Yasno, the situation with electricity supply, particularly in Kyiv, remains difficult.
Energy experts predict that a return to stable electricity supply schedules is possible no earlier than April, if the situation in the power system improves.
