What caused the fire at Bila Tserkva CHP: theories

on May 21, around 12:46, a fire broke out on the territory of the Bila Tserkva CHP plant, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing a statement from the Bila Tserkva city territorial community.

According to rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fire engulfed an inactive cooling tower with an area of 960 square meters.

While extinguishing the fire, firefighters found two burnt bodies. The circumstances of the deaths and the cause of the fire are currently under investigation.

Rescuers and all necessary services were working at the scene. The fire has now been completely extinguished.

Local authorities urge residents of the Bila Tserkva community to follow official updates.

Causes of the fire

Officials do not yet have any explanations for the fire. It is known that no air alert was declared in the Kyiv region at that time. However, the possibility of a drone arrival cannot be ruled out.

There is another version of the fire: the local TV channel Crocus reported that the cooling tower was undergoing repairs, during which the fire occurred. However, it is unknown what exactly happened during the repairs and why two people died in the fire.
