Trump’s team looks at Ukraine through the prism of past centuries and does not understand modern reality, – political analyst Magda

In an interview for the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian", political scientist and director of the Institute of World Policy Yevhen Magda said that the key problem of Donald Trump’s current political team is a lack of understanding of Ukraine and the current geopolitical situation.

According to him, Washington’s approach to the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war is reminiscent of the models of the 19th and 20th centuries, when great powers could dictate terms to “banana republics” or act within the bipolar system.

“Americans do not see Ukraine. I don’t know why. They live in the past – either in the 19th century or in the 20th century, when it was possible to scroll through such things,” Magda noted.

Commenting on the widespread thesis that “Americans always save Russians,” the political scientist emphasized the danger of generalizations. According to him, historical analogies are often false, and political reality should be analyzed accurately, not fit into a template.
