Hamas chief spokesman Khalil al-Haya has announced a “ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Reuters, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

“We are announcing today the end of the war and the beginning of a permanent ceasefire,” a Hamas spokesman said.

According to him, the peace agreement provides for the opening of the Rafah crossing point in both directions, which will allow the resumption of humanitarian transportation and civilian movement.

According to the agreement, Israel will release all Palestinian women and children held in its prisons, as well as:

  • 250 Palestinians serving life sentences;
  • 1700 people from Gaza arrested since the beginning of the war.

“The group has received guarantees from the United States, Arab mediators and Turkey that the war in Gaza will end,” al-Khaya emphasized.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of a peace plan proposed by the United States. According to him, the agreement provides for the release of all hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to an agreed line – “as a first step toward a lasting and durable peace.”

Following Trump’s announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his readiness to implement the agreement.

Hamas also confirmed the agreement, thanking Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and U.S. President Donald Trump for their mediation role in reaching the agreement.
