Soldier Oleh Magdych apologized to Ukrzaliznytsia for his dirty shoes in a clean train carriage on his way home from the front. The company responded to his post, writing that they “bow their heads” to him as a defender of Ukraine.
Magdych apologized for the dirty shoes in his Facebook post , "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The soldier was ashamed of this, and he apologized to Ukrzaliznytsia, promising to “clean his boots more thoroughly next time.”
He said that before traveling “in a clean Intercity car” he had been in a combat zone where he had gotten his shoes dirty.
In the comments to his post , Ukrzaliznytsia wrote that his boots are a “symbol” of the Ukrainian land that Magdych defended.
“We don’t need clean soles. We need living Heroes. And if you are in Intercity, then we have done our part. […] Every seat in our cars is for those who are defending Ukraine. And if necessary, we will lay a tent instead of a tablecloth, serve coffee in a helmet and go even under fire to take you home,” the company added.
The soldier replied that he had been reading the Ukrzaliznytsia commentary for “three minutes” and “hiding his tears.” He also said that he was offered free food from a cafe on the train “as a thank you to the soldiers.” “Shit. What are you doing to my nervous system…”
