Today, November 7, Ukraine’s men’s national handball team will play against the Netherlands in the opening round of the 2026 European Championship qualifying tournament, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
In the qualifiers, Ukraine is in Group 6, where, in addition to the Netherlands, it will compete with teams from Kosovo and the Faroe Islands. The first two teams from the group will go to Euro 2026. The top 4 third teams from eight groups will also qualify.
The next match after the game with the Netherlands for the Ukrainian national team will be on November 10 – Ukraine will play a nominally home match with the Faroes in Vilnius.
About readiness
On November 3-5, the Ukrainian national team trained in Wiesbaden, Germany, where they played a test match with TuS Nordenstadt. However, according to the team’s head coach Vadym Brazhnyk, there is still “something to work on” in the team’s preparation. In particular, it is necessary to establish interaction between the players. However, he is confident that the Dutch can put up a fight.
“The Dutch are a top-level team. Almost all of their players play in the Bundesliga, the French championship, Denmark… That is, everyone plays at a high level. But this is a team you can play with. If we have the attitude, if we are 100% ready, we can give them a fight.”

Judging by the head coach’s words, the team’s task for the next two matches is very simple and not too ambitious – to score at least one point out of four in the standings.
