Ukrainian Armed Forces thwart Russian plan for Sumy region – Zelensky

Sumy region remains one of the priority areas for Russian troops, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are blocking all Russian attempts to advance in this region from the border, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday, July 26, after a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.

“Our active actions in the Sumy region continue, and I am grateful to every unit that is gradually pushing out Russian forces. I thanked the chief of the army for disrupting the Russian plan for Sumy region,” the president wrote on Telegram. – “There are also results in replenishing the exchange fund for Ukraine this week. We continue to act on Russian territory.”

He added that during the report of the Chief of the General Staff, special attention was paid to the Pokrovsk direction, where 51 combat engagements took place over the past day alone. “Ukrainian troops are defending their positions, and every destruction of the occupiers is very valuable,” Zelensky said.

In turn, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, said that on Saturday, Russian troops continued to target civilian infrastructure in Sumy region.

In the morning, as a result of another attack by Russian forces, some residents of Sumy and Sumy district were temporarily left without electricity.
