In 2024, one of the key achievements of the Ministry of Justice was the recovery of UAH 2.5 billion of Russian assets to the budget of Ukraine. This is reported by the Government portal, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs.
“We have filed 27 lawsuits to recover assets to the state. More than UAH 2.5 billion, more than 70 real estate objects, corporate rights of 37 companies and property were recovered,” the Ministry calculated.
The Ministry of Justice also reported that the register of damages has started accepting applications for damaged property, forced relocation, death or disappearance of relatives. In addition, work has begun on a special register to protect deported children.
In general, Ukrainian laws now provide for three main confiscation mechanisms. These are:

- civil confiscation – seizure of assets of sanctioned persons in favor of the state at the request of the Ministry of Justice and the decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) during martial law;
- through criminal proceedings.
In addition, the agency noted that over the past year: thousands of war crimes were documented; the Unified National Portal for Collecting Facts of Human Rights Violations was created; work on a special register to protect deported children began; the Register of Damages began accepting applications for damaged property, forced relocation, death or disappearance of loved ones.
