The opposition party “Tisa” is leading in the Hungarian elections

Opposition leader Péter Magyar’s “Tisa” party is leading in Hungary’s parliamentary elections with 29.21% of the vote counted, according to data published on the National Election Office (NVI) website on the evening of Sunday, April 12, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to these figures, “Tisa” is projected to win 132 seats in parliament, while Viktor Orbán’s ruling Fidesz party and its coalition partner, the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP), are projected to win 59 seats. The far-right “Our Homeland” movement can tentatively count on another eight seats.

Mátyás: Optimistic but cautious

Mátyás, leader of the opposition Tisza party, has already commented on the start of the vote count.

“We are aware of the projections and the high voter turnout. Based on this, we are optimistic but cautious,” the German news agency dpa quoted him as saying.

Supporters of the Hungarian opposition have begun celebrating their election victory
