Weather on July 3: Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail are expected across Ukraine
3 July 02:44
On Friday, July 3, 2026, a sharp change in weather is expected in Ukraine. Most regions will experience rain and thunderstorms; during the day, heavy precipitation, hail, and squalls with wind speeds of 15–20 m/s are forecast in some areas. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, a further drop in temperature of 3–6 degrees is expected on July 4–5, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
At the same time, the heat will persist in the central, southern, and eastern regions. It will become noticeably cooler in the western and, in some places, northern regions, where daytime temperatures will drop to 22–28 degrees.
What will the weather be like in Ukraine on July 3?
On Friday, the weather in Ukraine will be determined by an atmospheric front, which will bring unstable weather, precipitation, and a local drop in temperatures.
In most regions, expect:
- moderate rain;
- heavy precipitation in some areas;
- thunderstorms;
- hail in some places;
- gusts of 15–20 m/s.
The weather will be most unstable in the western, northern, and parts of the central regions. In the south and east, the heat will persist, although localized thunderstorms are also possible.
Where to Expect Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms
Overnight, precipitation is expected mainly in the western and northern regions, as well as in the Vinnytsia region.
During the day, the area of unstable weather will spread to parts of the central regions, as well as Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
In some places, the rain may be heavy. During thunderstorms, the following are possible:
- intense, short-lived downpours;
- reduced visibility;
- flooding of low-lying road sections;
- hail;
- sudden gusts of wind;
- falling branches and trees;
- damage to lightweight structures.
In other regions, there may be no significant precipitation, or it will be limited to certain areas.
Where will it get the coldest on July 3?
Temperatures will drop most noticeably in the western regions, as well as in some parts of the north.
Daytime temperatures there are forecast to be 22–28 degrees.
At night, in the western regions, as well as in the Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions, temperatures may drop to 14–19 degrees.
In most other regions, nighttime temperatures will range from 16 to 23 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 29 to 34 degrees.
Thus, on July 3, the cool spell will not yet cover all of Ukraine. Hot weather will persist in the south, east, and parts of the central regions.
When will the cool spell reach most regions?
A more noticeable drop in temperature is expected on July 4–5.
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, temperatures in Ukraine will drop by an additional 3–6 degrees during those days.
Rain and thunderstorms will continue on July 3–4, and on July 5, in most regions—except for the east and northeast—the rain will gradually stop.
Therefore, the weather change will occur in two stages:
- On July 3, rain and cooler temperatures will reach the west and north.
- On July 4–5, colder air will spread further across Ukraine.
What is the forecast for Kyiv on July 3?

- thunderstorms;
