The United States is going to send more weapons to Ukraine. This was stated by US President Donald Trump during a meeting with an Israeli delegation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Fox News.
Thus, when asked whether it was planned to send more weapons to Kyiv, he answered in the affirmative, adding that Ukraine should be able to defend itself.
“We are going to send more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. They are being hit very hard now. They are being hit very hard. We have to send more weapons. Defensive weapons, first of all. But they are being hit very, very hard right now,” Trump said.
At the same time, he did not name a date when this would happen.
As a reminder, the day before it became known that the Pentagon had suspended the shipment of American weapons to Ukraine. The department explained this by allegedly lacking its own stocks.
However, according to three US officials, an internal review shows that the transfer of these weapons will not damage US stockpiles.
Washington sees Israel as a key strategic ally in the Middle East, while Ukraine remains a partner without formal mutual defense commitments.
Israel regularly receives stable, long-term and predictable military and financial assistance from the United States. Instead, support for Ukraine largely depends on the internal political situation in the United States and changes in the US administration.
Recently, the United States has been actively involved in the confrontation with Iran, in particular, as part of its support for Israel in deterring the nuclear threat. The US military also helps Israel repel missile and drone attacks.
