Mobile number portability will be suspended in Ukraine: how long will the restriction last?

26 June 19:17

Ukraine will suspend the provision of mobile number portability (MNP) services for subscribers of all operators. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing an order from the National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum, and Postal Services.

The suspension is due to the need to perform maintenance on the equipment of the centralized database (CBD) administrator. This decision was made based on a request from the state-owned enterprise “Ukrainian State Center for Radio Frequencies.”

According to the decision, the number porting process will be unavailable from 8:30 a.m. on June 29, 2026, until 5:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026. Full restoration of the service and processing of requests to switch networks while retaining the current number will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 2, 2026.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP): What You Need to Know

This is an option for subscribers to switch from one mobile service provider to another while keeping their number and network code. Your number always stays with you.

How to port your number (under normal circumstances):

  • Submit a request to port your number to the recipient provider of your choice.
  • Sign a written contract and receive a new SIM card (or USIM, e-SIM).
  • Start using your number with the new provider.

How the system works

The functions of the administrator of the centralized database of ported numbers are performed by the state-owned enterprise “Ukrainian State Center for Radio Frequencies” (USCRF). It ensures the technical operation of the database, monitors data exchange between operators, and safeguards information.
