The Ukrainian agricultural sector began 2026 with a cautious recovery. This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, agricultural output rose by 1.2% in January–March compared to the same period last year.

Livestock farming was the main contributor to this growth

The production index in this segment exceeded last year’s level and effectively became the main driver of positive growth. Amid general difficulties, this sector is demonstrating relative stability.

The regional picture remains uneven. The best results were recorded in Lviv , Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv regions, where significant production growth was observed. These are regions that either have better logistics or were less affected by hostilities.

At the same time, the situation remains difficult in a number of regions. The sharpest declines were recorded in Donetsk, Zakarpattia, and Sumy regions. The reasons vary, but security risks, disruptions to supply chains, and general economic pressure remain key factors.

In 2025, agricultural production declined by nearly seven percent, so even modest growth now signifies the industry’s attempt to stabilize after a difficult period.
