Twenty years after the release of the first film, the long-awaited sequel *The Devil Wears Prada 2* has hit theaters. The world premiere took place on May 1. According to Variety, the film is expected to gross between $75 million and $80 million in North America over the weekend, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Some experts expect the film to earn an additional $100 million on the international market, bringing the total global box office to $175–190 million over the weekend. The new trailer for the sequel became the most popular in 20th Century Studios’ history —222 million views in a single day across all platforms.

Forbes reports that 20th Century Studios likely spent approximately $100 million on the sequel’s production, excluding marketing costs. For comparison: the budget for the first film was approximately $40 million.

Disney’s investment is expected to pay off quickly, and the new film is projected to surpass the original’s total box office (which opened with $27.5 million in the U.S. and ended its run with approximately $451 million worldwide) in just a few weeks.
According to Variety, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will easily top the box office this weekend.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2”: Plot
The entire main cast has returned to the film: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, as well as the original’s director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. Filming began in the summer of 2025.
In the story, Andy Sachs (Hathaway) returns to Runway magazine as editor-in-chief two decades after serving as Miranda Priestly’s assistant.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who served as the inspiration for Streep’s character, has publicly supported the project this time, although she previously objected to the use of her likeness.
