Thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds: Which regions will be hit by severe weather on May 16

On Saturday, May 16, thunderstorms are expected in most of Ukraine’s western regions, with hail and gusts of 15–20 m/s possible in some areas. Due to the inclement weather, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a Level I (yellow) hazard warning. At the same time, no precipitation is forecast for most of the country, and daytime temperatures will rise to 18–23°C. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Where will the weather be dangerous on May 16?
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center’s forecast, the most unstable weather on Saturday is expected in the western regions. There, short-lived rains and thunderstorms will occur during the day, and in some places, dangerous phenomena—hail and squalls—are possible.
Wind gusts may reach 15–20 m/s. Because of this, forecasters have issued a Level I hazard warning(yellow). Such weather conditions may complicate operations for energy, construction, and utility companies, as well as disrupt traffic.
What will the weather be like in Ukraine on May 16
Overall, variable cloudiness is forecast for Ukraine on Saturday. Most of the country will see no precipitation—dry weather will be determined by a field of slightly elevated atmospheric pressure.
Only in the west will an atmospheric front bring brief showers, thunderstorms, and in some places, hail and squalls. Winds are expected to be predominantly southerly, 5–10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from 6–11°, and daytime temperatures from 18–23°.

Will there be precipitation in Kyiv
No significant precipitation is forecast for Kyiv and the Kyiv region on May 16. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with a southerly wind of 5–10 m/s.
Temperatures in the region will range from 6–11° at night to 18–23° during the day. In the capital, temperatures will range from 9–11° at night to 21–23° during the day.
Forecast for May 17–18
From May 16–18, weather conditions in Ukraine will vary by region.
Already on May 17 and 18, short-lived rains, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, are forecast in most regions.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, pressure and humidity will fluctuate, and temperatures will depend on cloud cover. At the same time, warmer air will gradually replace the cooler air mass coming from the east.
On May 18 , temperatures in the eastern regions may rise to 26°C.
What residents of western regions should keep in mind
During thunderstorms and squalls, be careful outdoors, do not park cars under trees or advertising structures, and monitor announcements from local authorities and the regional power company.
Due to possible hail and strong gusts of wind, there may be localized damage to power lines, traffic disruptions, and interruptions in utility services.
