New Horizons for the Economy: Why Ukrainian Entrepreneurs Are Increasingly Choosing Serbia

Ukrainian business is actively expanding in Serbia, as evidenced by the significant increase in the number of companies with Ukrainian capital in recent years. Currently, there are over 480 businesses operating in the country with majority Ukrainian ownership. These include 161 companies and 320 entrepreneurs.

This was reported by Marko Čadež, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, according to Interfax-Ukraine , as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" 

For comparison, in 2021, before the start of hostilities, there were 202 Ukrainian companies and 117 entrepreneurs operating in Serbia. However, about 40% of them were subsequently closed. At the same time, a significant number of new registrations have been observed since 2022.

To a large extent, Ukrainian business in Serbia is moving away from traditional forms of trade and shifting toward digital and other knowledge-based services. This is reflected in the growing number of IT entrepreneurs, consulting firms, and design studios.

The Serbian market is attracting the attention not only of Ukrainian businesspeople but also of other international investors. For example, the recently established Serbian company Senator offered 2 billion euros to Russia’s Gazprom Neft and Gazprom for their combined 56.1% stake in NIS.

Ukrainian business in Serbia is demonstrating steady growth and adaptation to new economic conditions. Thanks to innovation and the shift toward new types of services, Ukrainian entrepreneurs are strengthening their positions in the Serbian market, which opens up new opportunities for cooperation and development.
