The Verkhovna Rada has summoned Andriy Pyshny, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, to a parliamentary session due to the involvement of the state-owned Sense Bank in the “Forest Gump” investigation conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). The decision was supported by 155 members of parliament, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The case concerns the possible laundering of 150 million hryvnias, which, according to investigators, were used as collateral for one of the defendants in the “Midas” case. According to investigators, Sense Bank was one of the channels through which these funds were transferred .
According to NABU and the SAPO, officials and executives of the state-owned bank are implicated in the case. Among them, according to law enforcement, are Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the Office of the President; a former member of parliament; and the chair of the board of directors and chair of the supervisory board of Sense Bank.
Investigators are examining the theory that the bank and its affiliated companies were used to conduct financial transactions in circumvention of financial monitoring requirements.
The investigation has been named “Forrest Gump.”
