U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest level, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, while the overwhelming majority of Americans fear a protracted war with Iran, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Reuters.

One-third—33%—of respondents in the four-day poll approved of Trump’s performance, while 64% disapproved. In an earlier poll conducted this month, the approval rating stood at 35%. His approval rating has now matched the historic low recorded during his first presidential term—in December 2017.

The spike in gas prices triggered by the war with Iran is hurting American households and complicating the Republican Party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming November congressional elections.

The Reuters/Ipsos online survey included 1,166 American adults. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.

Meanwhile, for the first time in nearly a decade, Americans view Democrats as more competent than Republicans at managing the economy, according to another Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in early August.
