On the night of Thursday, June 11, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack on Poltava. During an air raid alert, a series of powerful explosions rang out in the regional capital. Vitaliy Dyakivnych, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported the massive enemy attack on his Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to preliminary reports, the enemy attacked the city with ballistic missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force and monitoring channels had previously warned of the threat of ballistic missiles heading toward Poltava.

Several explosions were heard in Poltava

According to local media reports, the first explosion in Poltava was heard around 3:11 a.m. Just a few minutes later, a second explosion was heard in the city.

Monitoring channels noted that the attack was large-scale and carried out using ballistic weapons. Later, closer to 4 a.m., a threat from a jet-powered drone was also detected near Poltava.

Around 4:05 a.m., another explosion was reported in Poltava. An air raid alert remained in effect in the city and the region.

What is known about the consequences of the attack

At the time of the initial reports, no official information regarding damage or casualties following the nighttime strike had been received.

Local authorities urged residents to remain in shelters until the air raid alert ended and not to post photos or videos of defense forces in action or the aftermath of enemy strikes.

Russia continues to use missiles, strike drones, and jet-powered drones against Ukrainian cities, targeting civilian infrastructure and populated areas in various regions of the country.

Poltava had already been attacked by drones the day before

A day earlier, a Russian drone attacked Poltava. The strike damaged a business and a residential area. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties at the time.

Also on June 10, Russian troops attacked Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Initially, five people were reported wounded, but the number of casualties later rose to 12.
