A Night of Explosions in Crimea: What Is Known About the Damage to Bridges and Military Facilities

On the night of Wednesday, June 11, the temporarily occupied Crimea came under a massive attack. A series of explosions was heard in various parts of the peninsula, including Sevastopol and Simferopol. Fires broke out in the cities following the strikes, and OSINT channels and local public groups reported damage to bridges on land routes leading to Crimea, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to preliminary data, the attack began around midnight and lasted several hours. The air raid alert was lifted shortly after 4 a.m. It is currently unclear exactly what delivered the strikes—drones or missiles.
Explosions in Sevastopol: What Is Known
One of the first to report the explosions was the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind.” According to the channel, a flash was observed in Sevastopol near Kozachaya Bay.
“An explosion in Sevastopol, resembling an impact, was a flash in the Kozachya Bay area,” the channel reported.
In addition to Kozachaya Bay, explosions were also reported in the Komysheva Bay area. According to public reports, a military unit may have been hit in Striletska Bay.
The so-called governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, confirmed the attack on the city. According to him, Russian air defenses allegedly shot down at least 20 drones in various areas of Sevastopol.
He stated that the drones were allegedly neutralized in the areas of the North Side, Sevastopol Bay, Victory Park, Balaklava, and Cape Fiolent.
Fire in Simferopol
Following the explosions, a fire was also reported in Simferopol. It is currently unknown what exactly is burning in the city.
There was no official confirmed information about the extent of the damage or possible casualties at the time of the first reports.
Local channels broadcast footage of smoke and flames following the explosions, but details of the attack’s aftermath are still being clarified.

Damage to bridges on the approaches to Crimea
According to reports from Russian public groups and OSINT channels, two bridges on the land routes leading to occupied Crimea may have been damaged during the nighttime attack.
In the Armiansk area, according to preliminary data, air defense systems were active, attempting to shoot down drones. An explosion was also reported on a road bridge there, after which the structure may have sustained damage. Eyewitnesses reportedly saw burning trucks.
Another possible bridge strike was recorded near Krasnoperekopsk from the Armiansk side. According to social media posts, a major fire broke out in this area.
According to preliminary reports, nearly all land access routes to the peninsula may have been damaged.
The day before, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the Chongar Bridge, which connected Crimea with the Kherson region.
