Russia has hit the power grid again: which regions have been affected and what consumers can expect
20 November 2025 11:32
Russian occupation forces have once again attacked energy facilities on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
Attacks on energy infrastructure
Russia has again attacked energy facilities in Chernihiv, Donetsk, Dnipro and Kharkiv regions. As a result, some equipment was damaged, and emergency and repair crews are working on the ground.
Power engineers are carrying out
- localizing the damage,
- emergency switching,
- restoring lines and substations.
The repair time depends on the scale of damage, weather conditions and personnel safety.
Outage schedules are in effect across the country
The Ministry of Energy informs that today the schedules of hourly outages and power restrictions for business and industrial enterprises are applied in all regions of Ukraine – from 00:00 to 23:59.
Current schedules are available on the websites and official channels of regional power distribution companies. Changes that may occur during the day are also published there.
Consumers are asked to save electricity
The Ministry of Energy urges Ukrainians to use electricity rationally, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening. This will help reduce the load on the power system and avoid massive blackouts.
“Rational consumption helps reduce the load on the system,” the Ministry reminded.
Why electricity consumption has increased
According to energy experts, consumption has increased due to the cold snap in most regions of Ukraine. At this time, people are more actively using electrical appliances for heating and cooling.
Nevertheless, the operating companies are trying to gradually ease the outage schedules as soon as the situation in the grid allows.
How blackout schedules are formed
The schedules differ in each region, as they are drawn up by regional power distribution companies based on three factors
- the actual state of the power grids in the region
- recommendations and calculations of NPC Ukrenergo, which determines the scope of the required limitation;
- existing outage queues – there are six of them in each region, and they are applied depending on the load.
Where to find out your outage schedule
“Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to follow the updates on the official websites of the regional power distribution companies in their regions. They publish current schedules and changes in outages.
“When electricity is supplied on schedule, please consume it sparingly,” the company emphasized.

Situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP
The water level in the cooling pond is 13.18 meters.
This is enough to meet the needs of ZNPP and ensure safe cooling of nuclear facilities in the current mode.
The plant is still under the control of the occupiers, but Ukrainian and international experts are constantly monitoring key parameters, including water level, power supply and the condition of the power units.
