The Kremlin has commented on the Victory Plan, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented to the Verkhovna Rada on 16 October. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian media.
The plan to end the war in Ukraine was commented on by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Most likely, this is the same plan of the Americans to fight us to the last Ukrainian, which Zelensky camouflaged and called a peace plan,” Peskov said.
He also said that he had stated that “Kyiv, in order to achieve peace, must ‘sober up’ and realise the reasons that led it to the conflict (war – ed.)”.
“The real peace plan for Ukraine will be the realisation of the futility of the policy they are pursuing,” the Russian president’s spokesman said.
How the Victory Plan is assessed in Ukraine
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, noted that the Victory Plan was fully supported by the parliament.
“This plan contains calls to our partners, because much depends on our allies and their determination. It is important that Ukraine and the Ukrainian people seek a fair and just peace, not a ‘freeze’ on the war or territorial concessions. Ukraine wants to win,” the speaker said.
Stefanchuk also thanked the members of the Ukrainian parliament for yet another demonstration of unity in matters relating to Ukraine’s future and victory in the war against Russia.
For his part, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal is confident that the Victory Plan presented to the public is designed to bring a just and lasting peace to Ukraine.
“All five points are fundamental. Their support by international partners can put an end to Russia’s imperialist ambitions and guarantee security for the European continent,” Shmyhal wrote on his Telegram channel.
