Drug Prices: What Lies Ahead for Ukrainians and Whether It’s Worth Stockpiling Medications

13 April 00:21

In 2026, Ukrainians faced higher prices for food, fuel, and public transportation. On top of that, the public may soon have to spend more money on medicines. However, the price increases will apply only to certain medications.

This was stated by Edem Adamanov, director of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, during an appearance on the program Day.LIVE, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

Which medicines may become more expensive for Ukrainians

Medications imported from abroad may become 10–15% more expensive. The reason: their prices depend on exchange rates. However, there is no need to worry that all medications will become more expensive at once.

At the same time, if anyone is considering stocking up on medicines in advance, it is better to abandon this idea. At the very least because medicines have an expiration date.

“If you stock up on medicines for one or two months, you can save some money, but the amount isn’t significant enough to risk buying medicines you won’t need,” Adamanov emphasized.

What else you should know

As a reminder, Ukraine does not maintain large reserves of medicines. However, the National Procurement Agency tries to keep a three-month supply. Storing even larger quantities of drugs in warehouses is not advisable.
