Ukraine has received another tranche from the European Union: how much funding was allocated

The European Union has allocated another tranche of 3.47 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Support Loan, the European Commission and Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced on Thursday, July 30, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The funds were allocated as part of a €90 billion defense loan package—€60 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and €30 billion to ensure the functioning of the state. In total, 45 billion euros are earmarked for Ukraine in 2026 under this mechanism, Koretsky noted.
“To date, 11.6 billion has been disbursed: 3.2 billion for budgetary needs and 8.4 billion for defense,” the prime minister reported.
Funds for Airspace Defense
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the EU is allocating funds “to help protect Ukraine’s airspace.”
“We are also bringing our defense industries closer together by combining the scale of European production with Ukraine’s unrivaled innovation. This is our new agreement on drones, which is taking shape,” DW quoted her as saying.
The allocated funds cover the first phase of the drone procurement plan and also include funding for additional drones, including long-range jet drones, missiles, and Gripen fighter jets. In 2026, 28.3 billion euros will be allocated to support Ukraine’s defense-industrial potential, the European Commission reported.

EU Approves Additional 8.3 Billion Euros for Ukraine
The EU Council also approved changes to the mechanism for supporting Ukraine, which outlines the reforms required to receive the funds. The changes provide for the inclusion of an additional 8.3 billion euros in the plan for 2026.
These funds will be provided specifically through the Ukraine Support Loan mechanism. To receive the funds, Ukraine must fulfill additional commitments in the areas of the rule of law and the fight against corruption, the EU Council’s statement notes.
