What’s Happening on the Interbank Market
At the close of trading the previous day , the dollar exchange rate on the interbank foreign exchange market hovered around 44.85–44.90 UAH per dollar.
The NBU’s official exchange rate is determined based on transactions in the interbank market, so fluctuations during trading sessions affect the rates the regulator sets for the next business day.
However, the official exchange rate should not be confused with the cash exchange rate. Banks and currency exchange offices buy and sell currency at different prices, which may vary depending on the city, the institution, and when the quotes are updated.
