On Tuesday, July 28, the weather in Ukraine will take a sharp turn for the worse. Most regions will experience brief showers and thunderstorms, while some areas are expected to see heavy rainfall, hail, and squalls with wind speeds of up to 20 meters per second. This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The most severe weather conditions are forecast for central, northeastern, and parts of southern Ukraine.
Daytime temperatures will generally range from 21 to 26 degrees, while in the southeast, temperatures will reach 29 degrees.
Where will there be rain and thunderstorms on July 28?
According to forecasters, Tuesday in Ukraine will be cloudy with some sunny intervals. Short-lived rains and thunderstorms in some areas are expected in most regions.
Overnight, there will be no significant precipitation, mainly in the eastern and southeastern parts of the country. In other regions, rainy weather will persist throughout the day.
Precipitation may be heavy in some areas. The heaviest rain is expected in the central regions, as well as in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.
In which regions are hail and squalls possible?
On the afternoon of July 28, dangerous weather phenomena are forecast in:
- the northeastern part of Ukraine;
- most central regions;
- Mykolaiv Oblast;
- the Kherson region;
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Hail is possible in some areas during thunderstorms. Wind gusts will reach 15–20 m/s.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a yellow (first) danger level for part of the country. These weather conditions may disrupt traffic and the operations of utility and energy companies.
Where Heavy Rain Is Expected
Heavy precipitation is forecast in some areas of:
- the central regions;
- Chernihiv Oblast;
- Sumy Oblast;
- Kharkiv Oblast.
Due to the forecasted precipitation, meteorologists have also warned of possible changes in water levels on certain rivers, particularly in the Prut and Siret river basins.
What will the temperature be on July 28?
The night will be cool in most regions. Temperatures will be as follows:
- in most regions at night — 13…18 degrees;
- in the western regions at night — 10–15 degrees;
- during the day in most regions: 21–26 degrees;
- in the southeast—up to 29 degrees.
Thus, following the heatwave in parts of Ukraine, temperatures will drop noticeably. It will be coolest during the day in regions experiencing heavy rain.
What winds are forecast for Ukraine?
Northwesterly winds will prevail at speeds of 7–12 m/s.
In the western regions, gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are expected in some areas during the day. At the same time, in the central, southern, and northeastern regions, the wind may pick up significantly during thunderstorms.
Under these conditions, do not park your car under old trees, advertising structures, or power lines.
Weather in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, brief showers and thunderstorms in some areas are forecast for July 28.
The wind will be from the northwest at 7–12 m/s.
Temperatures will be:
- in the Kyiv region at night — 13–18 degrees;
- during the day — 21–26 degrees;
- in Kyiv at night — 16–18 degrees;
- in the capital during the day — 22–24 degrees.
After the atmospheric front passes, the heat in the capital will temporarily subside.
When will the weather start to improve?
According to preliminary forecasts, after the cold atmospheric front passes, the rain will gradually ease.
Starting July 29, temperatures in Ukraine will begin to rise, and by early August, intense heat may return to some regions.
