Ukrainian Furniture Brought in Billions: Which Region Became the Country’s Leading Exporter

From January through June 2026, the government provided 7.53 billion hryvnia in support for exports of Ukrainian goods with high added value. The furniture industry accounted for the largest share, and the Khmelnytskyi region was the leading region in terms of the volume of supported shipments.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
How Much of the Exports Did the Government Support?
In the first half of 2026, the total value of Ukrainian goods whose exports received support from the ECA amounted to 7.53 billion hryvnia.
Over the course of six months, the agency supported:
- 40 export contracts;
- 33 Ukrainian exporters;
- product shipments to 24 countries worldwide.
The ECA is a state-owned company, with the state—represented by the Cabinet of Ministers—as its sole founder and shareholder. The agency helps Ukrainian manufacturers insure foreign trade contracts, export credits, bank guarantees, and investment projects.
Khmelnytskyi Oblast Became the Leader in Export Volume
Enterprises in the Khmelnytskyi region accounted for the largest volume of state-supported non-commodity exports—4.6 billion hryvnias.
The top three regions also included:
- Kyiv — 929.1 million UAH;
- Chernihiv Oblast — 553 million UAH.
Thus, Khmelnytskyi Oblast accounted for over 60% of the total volume of exports supported by the Export Credit Agency (ECA) in the first half of the year. This result is primarily due to significant shipments of furniture industry products.
Which Ukrainian goods were most in demand abroad
The furniture industry emerged as the clear leader among sectors. The volume of supported furniture exports reached 4.6 billion UAH.
The top five sectors are as follows:
- furniture industry — 4.6 billion UAH;
- milk processing, butter and cheese production — 879.3 million UAH;
- transportation support services — 501.9 million UAH;
- manufacture of metal doors and windows — 281.8 million UAH;
- wallpaper production — 271.2 million UAH.
These figures show that the bulk of government support goes to manufacturers of finished goods, rather than to exporters of raw materials. Such exports create greater added value in Ukraine, support jobs, and generate more foreign exchange earnings.

Germany Became the Main Export Market
Ukrainian products, whose exports were insured by ECA, were supplied to 24 countries.
Germany became the largest market, with exports totaling 1.2 billion UAH.
The top five buyer countries were:
- Germany — 1.2 billion hryvnia;
- United Arab Emirates — 879.3 million UAH;
- the Netherlands — 730.7 million UAH;
- Poland — 704.3 million UAH;
- Hungary — 677.7 million UAH.
Four of the five largest markets are located in the European Union. At the same time, the significant volume of exports to the UAE demonstrates the expanding presence of Ukrainian manufacturers in Middle Eastern markets.
How the ECA Helps Ukrainian Businesses
The Export Credit Agency reduces the risks faced by companies and banks when financing foreign trade contracts.
In particular, the ECA can insure:
- export contracts;
- loans for fulfilling export orders;
- bank guarantees;
- investment loans;
- direct investments in Ukrainian manufacturing.
The agency’s insurance coverage is recognized as acceptable collateral for a loan. Thanks to this, the bank can provide financing to a company without additional collateral if the borrower has a valid insurance contract with ECA.
What were the ECA’s results in 2025?
Throughout 2025, the Export-Credit Agency supported Ukrainian non-commodity exports to the tune of 10.43 billion UAH. This was 1.4 times more than in 2024.
The figure for the first half of 2026 already accounts for more than 72% of the total for the entire previous year. At the same time, the majority of this year’s volume was generated in the first five months: from January through May, the ECA supported contracts worth 7.4 billion UAH, and in June, the volume rose to 7.53 billion UAH.
