Moscow was jolted awake by explosions: a factory and a logistics center are on fire following a drone attack, and airports have suspended flights

On the night of and in the morning of July 28, Moscow and the Moscow Region came under yet another large-scale drone attack. Russian occupation authorities reported that air defense systems were activated, and explosions and fires were reported in a number of areas. This is according to Russian media, OSINT channels, and local authorities, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"
Due to the threat of an attack, several Moscow airports temporarily suspended flight arrivals and departures, and fires broke out at some industrial facilities.
Explosions were heard in Moscow and the surrounding region
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the first reports of a drone attack came in around 4:30 a.m. local time.
Russian authorities claim that air defense forces shot down drones heading toward the capital from various directions.
At the same time, numerous videos of the explosions and air defense operations have appeared online.
Moscow airports suspended operations due to the attack
Amid the threat of an attack, Rosaviatsiya temporarily imposed restrictions on operations at several of the Russian capital’s largest airports.
Specifically, arrivals and departures were temporarily suspended at:
- Vnukovo;
- Domodedovo;
- Zhukovsky.
Such restrictions are imposed when flight safety is threatened by drone activity.
Reports of fires at a factory and a logistics center
According to Russian sources, fires broke out at several facilities following the attack.
In particular, there are reports of a fire at the “Gidrostalkonstruktsiya” facility, as well as a fire at a large Wildberries logistics center.

Separately, a fire was reported at a tire recycling plant known as CHRZ.
This is not the first time Wildberries has come under attack
Wildberries’ logistics infrastructure has repeatedly been at the center of reports of drone attacks in recent days.
According to Reuters, over the past week the company has already suspended operations at several logistics centers following strikes, and the damage has affected a significant portion of its warehouse network.
Russia claims its air defense systems are operational
Russian authorities have, as usual, reported the alleged successful destruction of aerial targets.
However, despite these claims, fires were reported in the Moscow region, along with temporary restrictions on civilian aviation operations.
The Ukrainian side has not officially commented on the information regarding the nighttime attack.
