Without lawyers or a notary: how the process of establishing nonprofit organizations is changing

The state-owned enterprise Diya announced the launch of a new feature in the Diya app that allows users to register a nonprofit organization entirely online and without unnecessary red tape, according to [Komersant].

What is the essence of the innovation?

The essence of the innovation lies in maximizing the simplification of the process. Users simply need to log in using an electronic signature, fill out an online form, select the parameters of the future organization, and sign the application. Most importantly, the system operates automatically, with minimal intervention from officials, which significantly reduces the time required and minimizes the risk of delays.

Until recently, establishing a nonprofit organization required drafting a custom charter, visiting a notary, and making in-person trips to registration authorities. Now, these steps have effectively disappeared. Instead, ready-made document templates are available, and the entire process takes place digitally without the need for physical presence.

The new service is designed for a wide range of users. It allows for the creation of public organizations across more than thirty fields, including volunteer work, education, and human rights protection.

At the same time , the government is maintaining the traditional registration process. As before, you can register a civil society organization through the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine or at local offices. This is important for people who do not use digital services or do not have access to them.

Now, you can register a public organization online without additional approvals and in about 30 minutes.
