The dollar and the euro have risen in value again: exchange rates as of May 21

Following a brief period of stabilization, the National Bank of Ukraine has once again raised the official exchange rate for the dollar. The euro also rose slightly in value, while the Polish zloty fell. The official exchange rates for Thursday, May 21, 2026, published on the NBU website, are reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to official data from the National Bank of Ukraine, the official exchange rate as of May 21 is 44.2271 UAH for the dollar, 51.3034 UAH for the euro, and 12.0579 UAH for the Polish zloty. The previous day, May 20, the dollar was trading at 44.1530 UAH, and the euro at 51.2970 UAH.

Dollar exchange rate as of May 21
The official exchange rate for the U.S. dollar on Thursday is set at:
- 1 US dollar — 44.22 UAH.
Compared to Wednesday, May 20, the dollar rose in price by approximately 7 kopecks. The day before, it stood at 44.15 UAH.
Euro exchange rate as of May 21
The European currency also rose slightly. The official euro exchange rate is:
- 1 euro — 51.30 UAH.
Compared to the previous day, the euro gained less than a kopeck in exact terms, but remains at 51.30 UAH when rounded.
Zloty exchange rate as of May 21
The Polish zloty, on the other hand, fell in value. The NBU’s official exchange rate:
- 1 Polish zloty — 12.05 UAH.
Compared to May 20, the zloty has depreciated by approximately 3 kopecks.
What is happening with the hryvnia
As of May 21, the hryvnia weakened against the dollar and remained virtually unchanged against the euro. At the same time, the Ukrainian currency strengthened slightly against the Polish zloty.
These fluctuations are important for Ukrainians who buy foreign currency, receive remittances from abroad, pay for imported goods, or plan trips.
