Due to repair work at the Shehyni–Medyka border crossing, buses traveling from Ukraine to Poland will not be allowed to cross at this checkpoint until November 2027. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“According to information from the customs administration of the Republic of Poland, renovation work on the bus lane for entry into the Republic of Poland at the Shehyni–Medyka border crossing point will begin on June 15, 2026. The work will begin on June 15, 2026, and will continue until November 2027,” the statement reads.

At the same time, customs officials note that the restrictions will apply to only one direction. The passage of buses returning from or entering Ukraine from Poland via the “Shehyni–Medyka” checkpoint will proceed as usual without changes.

The Lviv Customs Office has urged international carriers and passengers to take these long-term restrictions into account when planning their trips. To cross the state border from Ukraine to Poland, drivers must select other open checkpoints along the Ukrainian-Polish border in advance.

As a reminder, in May, repair work was already underway on the Polish side at the “Medyka–Shehyni” border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border.

At that time, it was reported that road resurfacing work would last approximately 5 weeks and would cover both the entry and exit lanes.

“Traffic will be organized in stages. While work is being carried out on one lane, vehicles will be redirected to the other,” the State Border Guard Service clarified.

At that time, citing the Polish side, the agency warned that on May 9 and 16, two access lanes to the weigh stations for freight transport entering Poland would be temporarily closed. During this period, trucks were processed through the lane designated for buses.

The Shehyni-Medyka border crossing is one of the busiest routes for travel from Ukraine to Poland.

The checkpoint is located in the Lviv region, Mostyska district, near the village of the same name. On the Polish side, the “Medyka” checkpoint is located on the highway heading toward Przemyśl.

The checkpoint is for vehicles and pedestrians. The checkpoint’s status is international.

The types of transport handled are passenger and freight.

In addition to radiological, customs, and border control, the “Shehyni” border crossing point may conduct sanitary, phytosanitary, veterinary, and environmental inspections, as well as inspections by the International Road Transport Service and for the movement of cultural property.

The “Shehyni” border crossing is part of the “Mostyska” customs post of the Lviv Customs Office
