Following a series of Russian attacks on gas stations, the Cabinet of Ministers held a coordination meeting with fuel market operators and relevant government agencies. The government assured that there is no fuel shortage in Ukraine and that additional measures are already being prepared to protect the fuel infrastructure. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported this on her Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The Cabinet of Ministers discussed the situation on the fuel market
According to the head of government, the meeting was attended by representatives of petroleum product market operators and government agencies responsible for energy security.
The main topic was ensuring the uninterrupted operation of fuel infrastructure following Russian strikes on gas stations, particularly in frontline regions.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to ensuring fuel supplies for the civilian population, businesses, critical infrastructure, and the Ukrainian military.
Will There Be a Fuel Shortage?
Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that there is currently no cause for concern.
“Russian attacks on gas stations are becoming a systemic challenge to people’s safety and the functioning of the fuel infrastructure. Currently, the necessary amounts of fuel are available; there is no shortage,” the prime minister stated.
According to her, the government is already taking proactive measures.
“We are proactively implementing a set of measures that will continue to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel for citizens, businesses, security and defense forces, and critical infrastructure.”
Additional security measures are being prepared for gas stations in frontline regions
A separate topic of the meeting was security measures for gas stations operating in regions that are regularly subjected to Russian shelling.
According to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers has already identified additional steps to strengthen the protection of such facilities.
“Separate additional measures have been identified to improve the safety of gas stations in regions under constant threat of Russian attacks.”
Specific details of these measures are not being disclosed at this time for security reasons.
Russia Intensifies Attacks on Fuel Infrastructure
In recent days, Russian troops have carried out a series of attacks on gas stations in various regions of Ukraine. Fuel infrastructure facilities were targeted, resulting in fires and destruction.
The government views these strikes as a new tactic to put pressure on the country’s civilian infrastructure and logistics.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers assures that the fuel market is operating stably and that operators have sufficient reserves to meet domestic demand.
What This Means for Ukrainians
Despite the attacks on individual gas stations, the government assures that:
- there is currently no shortage of gasoline, diesel fuel, or autogas;
- fuel supplies to the public and businesses are continuing as usual;
- special attention is being paid to supplying communities near the front lines;
- additional security measures are being implemented for gas stations in high-risk areas.
The Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes that the situation is under constant monitoring, and decisions are being made proactively to prevent disruptions in fuel supply.
