Public outcry is often the reason why government agencies begin to respond promptly to cases of child abuse children. Pavlo Sushko, a People’s, deputy, and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission, stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the lawmaker, government agencies are often aware of
dysfunctional families, but concrete action is taken only when
the story becomes public and sparks widespread public outcry.
As an example, he cited a case in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where an older
brother decided to rescue his younger sibling on his own. He filmed
the abuse of the child on his phone. Only after the video
gained widespread attention did the relevant authorities respond and remove
the child from the dangerous environment.

According to Sushko, it was public outcry that forced officials to act
quickly.
“It was the fear of being held accountable that forced them to act,” he emphasized.
At the same time, the lawmaker added: the child protection system should not have to wait only after news reports or videos appear on social media.
According to him, dangerous situations should be identified by authorized
authorities even before the whole country finds out about them.
Despite this, it is often public attention that becomes the decisive factor
enables a child to be saved.
“When such cases are discussed publicly, decisions are made much faster,” he says.
Sushko is convinced that transparency and public oversight remain
important tools that compel the system to respond when it
for one reason or another fails to function on its own.
