Weather in Ukraine on May 13: A cold snap, rain, and thunderstorms are expected

On Wednesday, May 13, the weather in Ukraine will change significantly. A cold front will cross the country, bringing lower temperatures, rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in some areas. This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center and meteorologist Natalka Didenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

A cold front is coming to Ukraine

According to Natalka Didenko’s forecast, a cold front will cross Ukraine on May 13, so it will become noticeably cooler in most regions.

Daytime temperatures will mostly range from 11° to 16°. Only in the east and southeast of the country will warmer weather persist— 19° to 24°.

Rainfall will intensify due to the atmospheric front. Precipitation will be widespread, though significant rain is not expected in the western regions during the day, with the exception of the Carpathians.

Where will there be rain and thunderstorms on May 13?

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, moderate rain is expected in Ukraine on Wednesday, except in most western regions, and also in the eastern regions at night.

Thunderstorms are forecast for the day in most central and southern regions, with heavy rain possible in some areas.

In some places, wind gusts of 15–20 m/s are expected. On the Left Bank, winds will be 7–12 m/s.

What will the temperature be on May 13

At night, the air temperature in most regions will be 9–14°C; in the western regions, it will be cooler—4–9°C. During the day, temperatures of 13–18°C are forecast for the western regions, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions, and 17–22°C for the rest of the country.

According to Didenko’s forecast, temperatures will be even lower in some regions—around 11–16°C—while the warmest conditions will remain in the east and southeast, where temperatures could reach 24°C.

Weather in Kyiv on May 13

It will also get colder in Kyiv on Wednesday. Natalka Didenko forecasts daytime temperatures in the capital of only 11–13°. Rain is most likely on the night of May 13 and in the morning, while during the day the weather front is expected to gradually shift further east.

According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center for Kyiv and the region, cloudy weather with some sunny intervals and rain is expected. The wind will be northwesterly, 7–12 m/s. Temperatures in the Kyiv region will range from 9–14° at night and 13–18° during the day. In Kyiv, temperatures are forecast to be 11–13° at night and 14–16° during the day.

Will there be a warming trend after the cold snap?

The cold snap on May 13 will not mark a definitive transition to consistently cold weather.

According to weather forecasters, it will get warmer again in Ukraine over the weekend, though rain is still possible.

Therefore, the weather will remain unstable in the coming days, with alternating precipitation, clear spells, and temperature fluctuations.
