Rescue workers have found more bodies: the death toll from the attack on Kyiv is rising

In Kyiv, efforts continue to address the aftermath of Russia’s massive combined attack, which took place on the night of July 5. As of the morning of July 7, the death toll had risen to 19. Rescue workers continue to free people from under the rubble of destroyed buildings. This was reported by the State Emergency Service on Tuesday, July 7, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Three more bodies were found under the rubble

According to the State Emergency Service, rescue workers recovered three more bodies from the rubble overnight in the Darnytskyi district of the capital.

Thus, the total number of victims of the Russian attack on Kyiv has risen to 19.

The search and rescue operation is ongoing, as people may still be trapped under the rubble.

The Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts suffered the most damage

On the night of July 6, Russian forces carried out one of the largest combined attacks in recent times, using strike drones and various types of missiles.

The areas in the capital that suffered the most damage were:

  • the Darnytskyi district;
  • Podilsky District.

In the Podilsky district, a residential building was destroyed, and search efforts for people trapped under the rubble were ongoing.

A Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv

Due to the high number of fatalities, July 7 has been declared a Day of Mourning in the capital.

In the city:

  • national flags have been flown at half-mast;
  • entertainment events have been canceled;
  • the memory of the deceased civilians is being honored.

Rescue operations are ongoing

Rescue workers, police, medical personnel, and utility crews are working around the clock at the sites of the strikes.

Specialists are clearing debris, inspecting damaged buildings, and providing assistance to the victims.

Authorities are urging residents of the capital to stay away from areas where emergency rescue operations are underway and to follow official updates on the security situation.
