Customs officials seized goods and vehicles worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias

In the first half of 2026, Ukrainian customs authorities recorded 6,009 customs violations totaling more than 2.5 billion hryvnia. Compared to the same period last year, the number of such violations increased by 23%. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement from the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
According to the State Customs Service, customs officials processed more than 6,000 cases of customs law violations between January and June.
The total value of the detected violations exceeded 2.5 billion hryvnia, indicating a significant increase in illegal transactions compared to last year.

Which goods were most frequently seized
In 2,437 cases, customs officials temporarily seized items related to violations with a total value of 352 million hryvnias.
Among the seized items were:
- manufactured goods — worth 254 million hryvnias;
- food products—worth 58 million hryvnias;
- vehicles — worth over 35 million hryvnias;
- currency — worth 5 million hryvnias.
How much money has already been transferred to the budget
In the first half of the year, customs authorities imposed administrative fines in 562 cases.
The total amount of fines imposed was 17 million UAH.
At the same time, 29 million UAH has already been collected for the state budget, including decisions in cases that were opened in previous periods.
In addition to administrative proceedings, customs authorities are actively referring cases to the courts.
Over the past six months, 3,458 cases involving violations of customs regulations, totaling nearly 1.9 billion hryvnias, have been referred to the courts.
Based on the results of these proceedings—including cases from previous years—the courts have ruled to:
- imposing fines;
- confiscating goods;
- other penalties.
The total amount of these sanctions exceeded 5.3 billion hryvnias.

Customs is stepping up its fight against violations
The State Customs Service emphasizes that monitoring compliance with customs legislation remains one of the agency’s top priorities.
The increase in the number of detected violations is attributed to enhanced analytical work, border controls, and improved mechanisms for detecting the illegal movement of goods and foreign currency.
