The number of suicides, including mass suicides, is rising in the Russian occupation army. This was stated by military analyst and co-chair of the public initiative “Prava Sprava” Dmitry Snegirev in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian"

“The very fact of suicide—and we’re already talking about mass suicides—shows the morale of Russian soldiers, which has been undermined by the very nature of the hostilities,” Snegirev noted.

The “kill zone” and the lack of chances for survival

One of the key causes of demoralization is the so-called “kill zone”—an area of active combat operations that Russian troops cannot cross.

“The occupiers understand perfectly well: there is no way to cross a kill zone up to 20 kilometers wide,” he explained.

Snegirev also cited data that, according to him, comes from Russian sources: the average lifespan of an assault soldier at the front is about 12 days.

“Imagine this: for those 12 days, he advances toward the front line, knowing that he will either be forced to shoot himself or have no chance of evacuation,” the expert added.

Separately, the analyst emphasized the systematic prohibition against Russian soldiers surrendering.

According to Snegirev, such narratives are used to instill fear of captivity and exert additional psychological pressure.

In the expert’s opinion, the combination of these factors directly affects the combat effectiveness of Russian units.
