US President Donald Trump has said that he is ready to hold a personal meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin only if the parties are as close as possible to the completion of the peace process. He announced this on his social network Truth Social, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The condition for a trilateral meeting
Trump emphasized that he would not conduct any negotiations from scratch. According to him, a meeting is possible only when a peace agreement is either fully prepared or in the final stages of negotiation.
“I look forward to meeting with President Zelensky and President Putin in the near future, but only when the agreement to end this war is final or nearing the final stage,” Trump said.

Trump also said that his team has made “significant progress” in trying to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine over the past week.
He did not disclose any details.
Washington’s diplomatic steps
Earlier, Trump said that:
- instructed special envoy Steven Witkoff to travel to Moscow to agree on the details of the so-called “peace plan.”
- at the same time, US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll is to meet with representatives of Ukraine.
These contacts, according to Trump, should help move the process forward to the point where a trilateral summit is possible.
