Special Representative of the US President Steve Witkoff said that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia should be reached before the end of Donald Trump’s presidential term, which will end the war.

He said this on Fox News, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The host asked him what goals he sees for himself for the next three and a half years and what would be the best outcome of his mission as special representative.

“That we will resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, that we will reach this peace agreement. Because it has to happen. This war, the president was right, should never have happened. I think we will resolve it,” Mr. Vitkoff emphasized.

In addition to Ukraine, he mentioned the Middle East as another key focus of the new administration.

“If we solve the problems of Russia and Ukraine and get a peace deal, because that’s what’s needed, if we get a lasting peace in Gaza, if we get a long-term peace in the Middle East, I think those will be the major accomplishments,” the Trump representative added.
