Thunderstorms, downpours, and squalls are expected across Ukraine: Weather forecast for June 23

On Tuesday, June 23, the weather in Ukraine will change significantly as a cold front passes through. Most regions are expected to see brief showers with thunderstorms, and hail and squalls are possible in some areas. This was reported by meteorologist Natalka Didenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The heaviest precipitation is expected in Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia. At the same time, drier weather will prevail during the day in the northern and northeastern regions.
Temperatures will remain high: in most regions, the air will warm up to 24–29°, and in the south and southeast—to 27–32°.
A cold front will bring a change in the weather
According to forecaster Natalka Didenko, a cold atmospheric front will pass through Ukraine on Tuesday.
This front will cause unstable weather, localized downpours, thunderstorms, and sudden gusts of wind.
Weather conditions may change rapidly even within a single region: sudden rains and thunderstorms are possible after sunny weather.
Where rain is forecast for June 23
Short-lived rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day in most regions of Ukraine.
Precipitation is most likely:
- in the western regions;
- in the central regions;
- in the south;
- in parts of the eastern regions;
- in Zakarpattia and the Carpathian foothills.
In Transcarpathia and parts of the Carpathian Foothills, heavy rain is possible in some areas.
In the northern and northeastern regions, the skies will mostly clear up during the day following overnight precipitation.
Where thunderstorms, hail, and squalls are possible
Along with the rain, forecasters predict thunderstorms.
In some areas, the following are possible:
- hail;
- squalls;
- sudden gusts of wind;
- heavy localized downpours;
- briefly reduced visibility.
Due to the localized nature of summer thunderstorms, the exact location of heavy rainfall may vary.
During severe weather, avoid open areas and stay away from tall trees, billboards, and power lines.

What will the temperature be on June 23?
Despite the passage of a cold front, a sharp drop in temperature is not forecast for most regions.
Daytime temperatures will be:
- in most regions — 24…29°;
- in the western and northern regions — mostly 23…28°;
- in the south and southeast — 27…32°.
Overnight temperatures are expected to be around 15… 20°.
After the front passes, the air will become less muggy, and temperatures in some regions will drop slightly.
Weather in Kyiv on June 23
In Kyiv, rain and thunderstorms are possible on the evening of June 22 and overnight.
During the day on June 23, the capital is expected to have mostly dry and sunny weather.
The air temperature will be around 27–29°.
Compared to Monday, when temperatures in Kyiv were expected to reach 30°, the air will become slightly cooler due to the arrival of a fresher air mass.
Natalka Didenko warned of a change in air masses
The meteorologist noted that the passage of an atmospheric front may be felt due to a sudden change in weather conditions.
“Kyiv will see rain and thunderstorms today and tonight, with no precipitation in the capital tomorrow afternoon,” reported Natalka Didenko.
According to her, June 22 will be the hottest day in the capital in the coming days, and the next day the temperature will drop to about 27°.
“Behind the cold atmospheric front, temperatures are expected to be a more comfortable 27 degrees,” the meteorologist noted.
