The decision was made to comply with the conditions for the export of certain goods to the EU customs territory under temporary trade liberalisation measures.

Earlier, the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine “Ukrtsukor” appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a request to urgently establish a zero quota for sugar exports to 🇪🇺ЄС for 2024 in connection with the achievement of the maximum volume stipulated by the EU decision for the export of Ukrainian sugar to the EU countries this year.

“In fact, we are talking about Ukraine’s initiative to close the border for sugar exports to the EU as soon as possible due to the fact that sugar exports have already reached 262.6 thousand tonnes, which is the quota for Ukraine for 2024,”

– ukrtsukr said.

It should be noted that the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky said that Ukraine is actively developing a new direction for sugar exports.

In March, almost 8 thousand tonnes of sugar were supplied to three African countries – Cameroon, Libya and Guinea.
