“Ukrinform” won the court case, but the Kyiv City State Administration continues to fight for the removal of the news agency’s historic sign

The Advertising Department of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) has filed an appeal against the court’s decision to overturn the order to remove the historic “Ukrinform” sign. This was reported on the “Ukrinform” website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
In its appeal, the department again raises issues regarding the size of the letters, the sign’s location, procedural deadlines, and the interpretation of city regulations.
At the same time, the media outlet notes, these very arguments have already been evaluated by the court, which stated that “the Advertising Department’s conclusion regarding the non-compliance of the sign’s placement… is erroneous,” and that “the placement of the ‘Ukrinform’ sign above the third-floor windows does not contradict the essence and logic of the aforementioned regulation, since the plaintiff owns the entire building in question.”
As a reminder, on May 19, 2026, the Kyiv District Administrative Court overturned orders issued by the Kyiv City State Administration’s Advertising Department that called for the removal of the state news agency “Ukrinform’s” corporate sign from the editorial office building.
The “Ukrinform” sign has been displayed on the building at 8/16 Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street for over 20 years. The agency emphasizes that this is not an advertising structure, but rather the official sign of the state news agency, documented in official records, and an element of its brand recognition.
However, the Kyiv City State Administration’s Advertising Department issued orders for its removal, citing non-compliance with city regulations.
