Volkswagen has introduced a lifetime warranty on its cars in China

FAW-Volkswagen has extended its lifetime warranty to all new Volkswagen gasoline-powered vehicles and plug-in hybrids in China. Previously, this program applied only to crossovers, but as of August 1, 2026, sedans, hatchbacks, and electrified models have been added to the program, according to "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Infocar.
The program includes two separate warranties. The first covers the vehicle as a whole, including the body, chassis, and electrical systems. The second applies to factory-installed components: the engine, transmission, alternator, air conditioning compressor, and other key components. Genuine replacement parts installed during repairs at an authorized dealer are also covered by the warranty.

If a malfunction occurs through no fault of the owner, repairs will be performed free of charge. There are no restrictions based on the vehicle’s age or mileage, and you can contact any official FAW-Volkswagen dealer in China.
However, the lifetime warranty is valid only under three conditions. The vehicle must remain with the original owner and not be used for commercial transportation. All scheduled maintenance must be performed at an authorized service center in accordance with the service regulations, and only genuine parts may be installed during repairs. Therefore, once the car is resold, the new owner will no longer be able to take advantage of the program.
The offer covers the entire model lineup of the Chinese joint venture under the Volkswagen brand—from the Bora, Sagitar, Golf, Magotan, and CC to the T-Roc, Tayron, Tavendor, and Talagon crossovers. By extending the warranty, the company is trying to make its cars more attractive in the Chinese market, where buyers have an increasingly wide range of choices and are paying closer attention to future maintenance costs.
